Workshop Description

This workshop is designed to suit both absolute beginners as well as intermediate-level artists that want to develop a solid theoretical and practical base for their painting practice. In this workshop you will learn: • Fundamental drawing strategies that will enable you to accurately draw even the most complex subjects • A Step-by-step approach to making an oil painting from start to finish, including how to mix and apply oil paint • How to group and arrange tonal values to create and control the illusion of three dimensional form in your work • Colour theory that will allow you to mix the right colour every time, and to take your paintings to a new level of realism Each workshop day will commence with a theoretical lesson aimed at introducing essential concepts and techniques. This will be complemented by hands-on work on a multi-day project, allowing participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge. Our activities will be based on carefully curated photo references, tailored to align with the time constraints and objectives of each lesson. Instructors : Kostas Protopapas & Carl de Jager Both your instructors are academically trained, practicing artists. They are also skilled teachers with several years of experience at the Barcelona Academy of Art, working with beginner, intermediate and advanced drawing and painting students. Workshops will be presented in English with printed notes available in English and Greek. Workshop Dates and Time: Friday 27/09/2024 - Sunday 29/09/2024 09:00 - 13:00 + 14:00 - 18:00 -------------------------------------------------------- Workshop Fee : € 440.00 The fee includes 24 hours of tuition, including presentations & plenty of one-on-one time with teachers. The cost of some materials, including canvas and speciality mediums, is included in this price. Other materials are to be provided by the student. EARLY RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED, AS STUDENT NUMBERS ARE PURPOSELY LIMITED TO 12 STUDENTS TO ALLOW FOR A HIGH DEGREE OF INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION.
